We’re having a conversation about choices and options, about living differently, and about aging together. We invite you to join us around our virtual kitchen table and be part of the discussion. This is a place for sharing ideas, comparing possibilities, supporting dreams, and encouraging the many ways women might share living spaces, create community, be engaged in mutually supportive ways, and remain independent.

In this space we’ll share what we learn, and invite respectful discussion. We’re open to ideas from anyone, anywhere. Our primary interest is to explore alternative approaches to communal or shared living for women – urban, rural, retired, extended family, professional, or other – ideas that might bring women together in a shared space lifestyle. Our core (original) group is comprised of “older” women, but we aren’t limited by age or by other characteristics. We’ve been exploring options for women in shared living models suitable for later life, which suits our core membership and seems to be a rare commodity in our community. We’re interested in learning from the experiences of others, considering tried and tested (as well as exploratory) models from around the world, and contributing to the knowledge base for others doing the same.

Follow us for updates, and check this space for new posts and resources added periodically. You can also contact us to join our Facebook group – send an email to SistersSharingSpace@bell.net and tell us a bit about yourself!

I am still every age that I have been. Because I was once a child, I am always a child. Because I was once a searching adolescent, given to moods and ecstasies, these are still part of me, and always will be … (Madeleine L’Engle)
